I'd have to vote for Bob Barr on the Libertarian ticket, and I may be doing so anyway. Depends on who mclame picks for a VP.

Why waste a vote. I'll vote for McCain simply to keep the socialist from becoming president.

Right now I am not sold on McCain. At this point I will leave that part of the ballot blank

I don't like the libertarian positions on social issues. They'd let gay marraige be legal.Pale Rider wrote:I'd have to vote for Bob Barr on the Libertarian ticket, and I may be doing so anyway. Depends on who mclame picks for a VP.

Bob Barr on: Marriage
The federal government should neither regulate personal relationships nor discriminate against individuals for their personal preferences. Laws regulating marriage should be left to the states, precisely where the Constitution places the issue.
Regardless of whether one supports or opposes same sex marriage, the decision to recognize such unions ought to be made by each state rather than imposed as a one-size-fits-all mandate by the federal government. Any federal laws that prevent states from determining their own standards for marriage should be repealed; the federal government should not define marriage, whether by statute or constitutional amendment.
In this way, every state would remain free to determine for its citizens the basis on which marriage would be recognized within its borders, and would not be forced to adopt a contrary determination legislated by another state.

Barr simply states that the Feds shouldn't be in the marraige business, and I agree. But Staate level Libertarians would, in effect, legalize gay marraige.

I think what the stance means is they think the issue should be put to a state wide referendum vote in each state. I agree with that too.
I don't get the impression that Libertarians support homo marriage at all.
Re: if you couldnt vote for no-change obama or half-way mc-cain who would you vote for ?
Pale their stance is that that they don't care and shouldn't get involved in any social issue. So when the gay marriage crowd calls for legalization the Libertarians won't fight it.
I've seen myself how libertarians fucked up local government. They had a majority of a Town Board in Onondaga County, NY (near Syracuse). They refused to do any planning or zoning, so the place ended up looking like a shit hole. There was a nice old farmhouse on the main street, but next to that was a gas station and on the other side was a bunch of house trailers. Investors pulled out and property values plummetted.
Just think of what these kooks could do on a State or Federal level. They're also for legalization of all drugs.

Well... I don't consider myself a libertarian anyway. I consider myself an independent now. The republican party has slipped too far to the left for me. They all seem to get to Washington and then cave. They start spending like money grows on trees and go soft on social issues.
It's just getting harder and harder for conservatives to find someone to vote for.

About 1/2 the Republcans in Congress are conservatives. Get the roster of who's there debating oil drilling offshore while Pelosi's on vacation and you'll know who they are.

Damn... she'd look me straight across in the eyes.
I'll shorten her up in my mind. I don't care for tall women that much.

I think Libertarian all the way. as for the marriage stuff, I really think that states and feds need to be out of the business. Marriage is a personal and a religious thing. Ever stop to wonder why they need to be involved at all?
as for the southern mans Avatar. I love me some tall women. I am 6 3 myself so she would be about perfect.

And with all the movement of the Republican party to the center and nominating RINO's like mccain for President, I am now a registered Independent.

There are still some Reagan conservatives out there who are telling the party leaders to go back to what brought them to power in 1994

And if they were smart, they'd LISTEN to them, because every time they do, they win elections in a land slide.
