B-25 Mitchell. my mom helped build these
that's me out front. note the people under the aircraft. it was 110 in the shade. and this was the only shade !!! all these displays had people cramed under them. I think that's an F-14
B-52
TBM avenger this is the model GWB senior flew
-------------------------------------------------
these were taken inside the hanger deck of the USS Yorktown
A-1 sky Raider
F4U Corsair
--------------------------------------------------------------
USS Alabama in Mobile
16" guns
USS Alabama looks like she's sitting on land
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vietnam
I think those are 500 pounders. I took this from the bridge. note the empty shells in the box along the side. these were empty casings from destroyers. there either 3 or 5" shell containers. they were sent back to be reloaded.
me on the signal bridge. note the super sized binoculars. these were used by the signalmen. man you can see forever thru those. its hard to see but the coast of Vietnam is in the back ground. about 5 miles away. it was one of the real glary days when this was taken

Re: war birds
Great pics namvet. I enjoy all sorts of pictures. So I cleaned a couple of those up too, and what do I notice in the picture of you? "You're smoking." Me being in the Air Force for eight years and having to WORK several base open houses with a many, many air craft on static display, our main mission was to go around and tell people to put out their cigarettes or be escorted off the flight line. It didn't surprise me as I caught lots of people smoking. Nobody told them so how were they do know. I think they put big no smoking signs all over now.

well back then you were allowed those pleasures. smoking, drinking, chasing whores, fighting etc. but during refueling, ammo tranfers the word was "the smoking lamp is out". I was on the bridge wing with the CO one day and he ask me for a cigarette. I gave him one. he proceeded to put it in the wrong way. so i had to remind him. he smoked the unfiltered type. damned filtered cigarettes he said. im not used to em................
